Originally created as part of a performance that explores the emotions associated with confinement during lockdown, Asier Quintana’s work deals with fear, roots, refuge, creativity and self-discovery. The MA-graduate of the Royal Danish Academy has pushed the boundaries of traditional tailoring within a more contemporary context. Losing control was a guiding principle in the design process, and as a result mistakes are integrated into his all-black menswear collection. Vintage and deadstock fabrics form the base for tailored, draped and pleated silhouettes that are offset by a mix of materials and textures that disturb the monochromatic layering. Combining old-school tailoring techniques, white topstitching and fraying, Asier’swork conjures dark anddeconstructed menswear that straddles performance and suiting.
