‘Conventional Fashion’

This work investigates traditional clothing through deconstruction and re-contextualisation. The collection proposes alternative ways of reworking old clothing to find new functions and values in already produced material. Inspiration is drawn from horse equipment, as a sport of tradition, where the material is enduring and sturdy. Between tradition and innovation, the collection uses a re-make methodology and suggests a new relationship between wearer and clothing. The equestrian theme is a communicative framework that shows new possibilities in methodology and product. By playing with construction, history and stereotypes, this work uses conceptual thinking as a creative way of designing sustainably and inspiring future movements.
