Inspired by her personal experience wearing medical support braces during her formative years, Aalto graduate Enni Lähderinne’scollection explores the profound connection between garment and wearer. It seeks to visualise the symbiosis between the two, using a zero-waste pattern system. Knitwear crafted from monofilament challenges conventional softness, inspired by the impressions left by medical braces, and reinforces the intimate bond between body and fabric. Rooted in experiences with Scheuermann's disease, a condition involving an abnormal, excessive curvature of the spine, the designs blur the lines between fashion and embodiment, offering a delicate yet empowering armour that both shields and reveals. The collection includes garment-sized jewellery, created in collaboration with the designer’s father, who also shares the condition. The jewellery symbolises their shared journey, embodying the essence of medical braces and the strength derived from their bond.
