Beginning as a struggle of adhering to one style only, the battle of consistency has turned out to be the asset of Filippa Agaton. The BA-graduate of Beckmans College of Design wrestled with finding her own aesthetic and was shifting between two contrasting expressions that echo her two childhood styles which alternated between a full princess look or wearing riding clothes or her big brother’s oversized sports clothes. Yet the previous polarization has now been worked into a minimalist collection that straddles feminine elegance and and oversized sportswear in rich materials, such as leather, silk and wool. Strong references to equestrian clothing with stirrups adorning the accessories and cropped riding breeches and sporty sweatbands are counterbalanced with strapless evening dresses. The subtle and cohesive collection pays tribute to the past influences that have shaped Filippa’s style vocabulary and shows how facing one’s insecurities can result in finding one’s voice and vision.
