BA-graduate of Beckmans College of Design, Jens Nilsson works with ideas on how our modern society has involved the movement from rural areas to cities, whilst still romanticising the countryside. Grid patterns are a recurring theme in the work with symmetry and geometry evoking urban systems and structures. The gender-neutral collection encapsulates checked duffle coats, soft suiting, knitted ponchos and dresses. To create dynamic structures with shifting patterns, Nilsson has woven jersey tubes with a mesh that transforms from stripes to dots with movement. Bonding wool felt with cotton satin emulates camouflage, and needle felting is used to create patterns with wool and mohair. Nilsson has combined plated knitting with ribbing, which creates a two-tone grid with a three-dimensional texture.
