‘'Peeling Garments’

With 'Peeling Garments' finalist Monika Colja explores print(ing) as a way to present new possibilities and expand the use of print beyond decoration. Colja, a graduate of The Swedish School of Textiles, has flattened garment forms and updated the screen-printing process so that individual pieces can be entirely printed and assembled through the act of screen-printing, thus making sewing obsolete. Taking cues from the aesthetic of a peeling wallpaper, the collection connects material and shape in terms of flatness, layering and transparency.
